On Sunday, September 11, 2016, The Catholic Lawyers Guild of Chicago, in conjunction with Loyola University Chicago School of Law and The Lawyers Club of Chicago, is sponsoring “A Chicago Tribute to Justice Antonin Scalia”.  This event will feature a keynote address by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg of the Supreme Court of the United States and presentations by Chief Judge Diane Wood and Judge Frank Easterbrook of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.  The event will take place beginning at 1 p.m. at Loyola’s Philip H. Corboy Law Center, 25 East Pearson Street, Chicago, Illinois.  A reception will follow in Kasbeer Hall on the 15th floor of Loyola Law School.

If you desire to attend, please RSVP as soon as possible to http://www.luc.edu/law/scaliatribute/.  Include your name, email address and phone number, and state that you are a member of the Catholic Lawyers Guild of Chicago.  As one of three co-sponsors, the Guild has available to it a limited number of seats, which it will distribute to its members on a first-come, first-served basis until the Guild’s supply of seats is exhausted.   Time is short; RSVP’s must be received by Thursday, September 1, 2016.

Like the other program co-sponsors, the Guild has been allotted a limited number of seats in the main presentation room and in an overflow room (with video monitors displaying a live video feed from the presentation).  Once the Guild’s seats in the presentation room have been filled, Guild members will be seated in the overflow room.  Everyone at the event (whether in the presentation room or the overflow room) is invited to the reception following the program.

This Chicago Tribute to Justice Scalia will be preceded by a Mass in memory of Justice Scalia to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Chapel in the Archbishop Quigley Center, 835 North Rush Street, Chicago, Illinois, which is a block away from Loyola Law School at the corner of Pearson and Rush Streets.  Bishop Thomas J. Paprocki of the Diocese of Springfield, Illinois (and formerly an Auxiliary Bishop in Chicago and active member of the Guild) will be the principal celebrant and homilist.  All are invited to join us for this event, irrespective of whether you will be attending the Chicago Tribute to Justice Scalia in the afternoon.

The Catholic Lawyers Guild is very pleased to be able to co-sponsor this program commemorating Justice Scalia’s remarkable life and his special relationship to Chicago.
