First Friday Prayer Meeting

The Guild is hosting monthly virtual prayer meetings for legal professionals on the first Friday of each month, from 7:45 to 8:30am. All who work in the legal profession (lawyers, judges, clerks, paralegals, etc) are welcome to come together to spend some time in silence, reading God's word, sharing faith with each other, and in intercession.

There are no requirements, other than a connection with the legal system and a desire to pray together.

Consider volunteering for the CLG Volunteer Day at the Mission of Our Lady of the Angels in West Humboldt Park on Saturday, September 5th from 8:00 am to 12 pm. This offers a wonderful opportunity to support brothers and sisters in need by assisting at the Mission's Food Pantry.

Beginning with a prayer service in the church, this volunteer day provides neighborhood families with essential groceries and resources from the Food Pantry. Each year, the Mission serves hundreds of local families, ensuring they have access to nutritious food and community support.

Additional information will be provided to all registrants.

Join the Catholic Lawyers Guild of Chicago for Worker Rights Forum III 2026, a timely program examining current developments in labor and employment law. Designed for attorneys and interested members of the public, the forum will explore recent federal policies and executive orders affecting federal employees; court challenges to the National Labor Relations Act and NLRB; and the evolving impact of artificial intelligence on employees.

The Worker Rights Forum III 2026 is the third such program hosted and organized by the Catholic Lawyers Guild. The Forum seeks to educate lawyers and other members of the public about Catholic teaching on worker justice and to stimulate discussion as to how to respond to AI and other trends affecting workers.

This year, our keynote presentation will be about MAGNIFICA HUMANITAS, the recently released encyclical by Pope Leo exploring the challenges to our essential humanity which artificial intelligence poses. Professor Joseph Vukov, associate professor of philosophy at Loyola University in Chicago will share with the audience the insights from the encyclical and societal impact, including questions for how AI is likely to affect the workplace. His presentation will be followed by audience discussion.

There will be a joint presentation by Professor Anne Lofaso, University of Cincinnati College of Law and Professor Heather Beard, teaching Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois College of Law. These professors will update the audience on relevant and important rulings of the Supreme Court (with emphasis on Trump v. Slaughter). Also, they will summarize the status of constitutional challenges to the National Labor Relations Act and executive orders affecting collective bargaining. Following their presentation, we will discuss the impact of these changes on workers, particularly federal employees.

For the third presentation, we will hear a report from Jane Flanagan, Director of the Illinois Department of Labor, regarding her obstacles in enforcing labor laws applicable to low wage and immigrant workers due President Trump’s detention and deportation policies. In addition, John Jarger, Director of Operations of the Mid-America Carpenters Union will join business agent Gil Barrigan of the Carpenter’s Union and both will describe their experience with workers in the construction industry.

Registration includes lunch, two hours of general continuing legal education credit for attorneys, and opportunities to connect with fellow participants.

Two-hours of Illinois general CLE credit will be provided for this program. Registration is required to attend, please provide ARDC number during registration to obtain CLE credit.

How to Clear a Criminal Record: Expungement and Sealing

1 hour of general CLE credit will be awarded for attending.

This program will provide an overview of the law in Illinois that allows for the expungement and sealing of eligible criminal records, through the traditional petition-based process and automatically under the Clean Slate Act, which went into effect on June 1, 2026. Participants will learn how to provide legal assistance to individuals seeking to clear their criminal records.

Tiffany Boye Green

Tiffany Boye Green received her Juris Doctor from Washington University School
of Law in St. Louis, Missouri. For more than 25 years, she has worked at the Office
of the State Appellate Defender, representing indigent individuals in direct appeals
and capital post-conviction proceedings. Throughout her career, she has appeared before the Illinois Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, the Illinois Appellate Court and circuit courts across Illinois.

In August 2025, Ms. Green was appointed Director of Expungement. In this role,
she provides training and education to attorneys and reentry organizations on the expungement and sealing of criminal records. She also leads workshops and presentations in correctional facilities throughout Illinois, helping incarcerated individuals understand the legal processes available to clear or seal eligible criminal records.

Ms. Green serves on the Adult and Juvenile Expungement Forms Subcommittee of the Illinois Supreme Court’s Access to Justice Commission, where she develops and
improves statewide standardized court forms.

The Catholic Lawyers Guild of Chicago would like to invite all lawyers, judges, and law professionals to the 92nd Annual Votive Red Mass of the Holy Spirit, traditionally known as the Red Mass. The Red Mass has been celebrated annually in churches throughout the world since the twelfth century. It brings together members of the community from all faith traditions to pray for all those responsible for the administration of justice.

During the reception, the Catholic Lawyers Guild will honor distinguished members of the legal community for our traditional Red Mass Awards.

Parking: Complimentary parking will be available in the Holy Name Cathedral parking garage located at 14 W. Superior Street, between Dearborn ad State Street, and is located below the tall tower of the new One Chicago Square complex. Superior is a one-way street going Eastbound, you will need to be coming from the West to enter the Parking Garage. You will enter on the two-way driveway on Superior and turn left to proceed down the ramp. Our entrance gate will be directly in front of you. Just pull a parking ticket and park in any non-reserved open space on Lower Level One (LL1) or Lower Level Two (LL2). There will be no need to validate your parking ticket. The parking gates will be open upon the conclusion of both the Red Mass and the reception.
